Here’s a birds eye view of the construction and development work in Dubai…
You must have seen this picture…yes it is Burj Al Arab in Dubai - Supposedly the only 7 Star Hotel in the World!
It was built in only 18 months and completed in 2003…
Yes, it cost a lot of money. Contrary to popular opinion, Dubai is not oil rich
Just to go in and see the hotel costs 60 Pounds. Can you imagine what it would cost to spend the entire night?
In a room like this one?
Let me tell you: A suite like this one can cost anything between $7500 and $15,000 a night!
This is the Panoromic Suite for $8,250 a night!
You have to add what it costs to dine in this restaurant.
You can have your business meeting in something like this…
And you can enjoy a drink in one of the numerous bars
Refresh yourself with a shower in a cozy & intimate place like this…
Or enjoy a swim in one of the numerous pools; if a bath is not enough.
If you are feeling bored you can choose to play a tennis match atop the hotel with Nadal (if he is around!)
Crazy isn’t it? For the price of an hours play you can buy hundreds of tennis balls!
Take a look a this indoor sky slope. You could enjoy freezing temperatures when others are sweating in 85 deg Fahrenheit or 45 deg centigrade! Don’t complain about the Sun in Dubai. It’s also in Dubai in the “Mall of the Emirates”.
Is it nice?
The mall looked like this three years ago
Now finished; it looks like this (notice the size of the palm trees)
Friends, you are seeing Dubai - The city with one of the fastest growth rates in the world.
Compare the 2 pictures above…
Now look at some of the future projects. 15% of the tall buildings being built in the world are in Dubai. It is said that around 15% of the major construction equipments like Cranes etc are in use at the moment in Dubai.
This is a virtual model of “Burj Dubai” which will be the tallest tower in the world by end 2008. It will exceed 800 meters in height.
Compare it to the closest competitor…
Here is how the Burj Dubai currently looks like…
This is the biggest theme park in the world and it will be finished by 2010. Project has taken off. It will be called “Dubailand”
You can see Dinosaurs come to life - In real size!
The above is the “Jumeirah Beach Residences project” which was just completed. It is a block of 40 buildings.
Work is done day and night.
This is the design plan of the “Dubai Marina” zone showing views of 2 Palm Projects - Palm Jumeirah and Palm Jebel Ali and third one “The World” project. The middle one, the Palm Jumeirah is the smallest and the island is 5 kilometers by 5 kilometers and will add 78 kms to the coastline.
These are the villas on the leaf of the palm.

A Third Palm Project called “Palm Deira” is also coming up. Palm Deira will take 10-12 years to complete and will be bigger in size than the city of Paris!
This is an aerial view of the Burj Al Arab and the Palm.
Between the three islands there will be over 100 luxury hotels, exclusive residential beach side villas and apartments, marinas, water theme parks, restaurants, shopping malls, sports facilities and health spas.

The Palm Islands will add 520 kms of beaches to Dubai coastline. Indeed this is the “Eighth Wonder” of the World!
This is the “World Project” shaped like a world map, another man made archipelago of 300 islands. The development will cover an area of 9 km in length and 6 km in width, surrounded by an oval breakwater. Transport between the islands will be by boat and helicopter! Island prices range from $15 million to $45 million! Think you can have one?

I’m a great admirer of the construction going on there in Dubai.. undoubtedly an ambitious project! Thanks for the great pictures!
Actually….. oil makes up one third of the United Arab Emirates GNP.
this is like amazing …
so what does the textbook say about being ovr ambitious and over spending …
hope that never happens …
coz i really admire these bold moves …
great city …
have been there twice … amazing …
Guess who’s building Dubai? Mostly poor South Asians.
Amazing!! Very nice looking!
yeah…like anonim spunea mentioned…it’s mostly very poor South Asians who are highly underpaid by the private construction companies that hire them. But labour laws in Dubai are changing rapidly as well (it’s about time), and hopefully that will be sorted out too.
Funny thing is…i remember when Dubai looked like that back in 1990. No Sheikh Zayed Road, tht’s for sure!! ;-)
And all that built thanks to slave labors from south Asia ! What a wonderful world ! 3 cheers for the slaves !
“Actually….. oil makes up one third of the United Arab Emirates GNP”
Yes, but the emirate of Dubai does not have a single drop of oil.
As for the ’slaves’, go check the airports, they are FULL of pakistanies/indians/chinese who want to work there. They are not forced into the country. They choose to come and try to work in Dubai. Yes some are abused of, but that happens everywhere. The little amount of money they make in Dubai is more than they make in their home country.
The WORLD was built on cheap labor. Now go complain elsewhere
The tennis game was an advertising gimmick. You can’t really play tennis there, its a helipad.

People working there are mostly from India, Pakistan & Bangladesh
I love this place. But Cost of leaving in Dubai is getting expensive everytime…
this is the information about Philippines
It would be unfair to talk about issues like camel jockeys when we are talking about amazing Dubai Projects.
The Dubai projects are achievements and should be appreciated. If you know, specially the project like Palm Jumeirah and Palm Jebel Ali are the worlds largest man made Islands. These islands have set a world record and have set a benchmark of human achievements.
